Flipside Youth Club

(incorporating Focus Youth Club)

Hampshire County Council had for many years run a Youth Club using a building on the Lee Schools site. Following reductions in government funding this was closed.

We recognised the importance of this facility and worked with a group of young people and Councillor Graham Burgess to refurbish the interior of the building – largely carried out by the young people.

Following consultation with potential members we obtained a grant from HCC to re-launch the club on two evenings a week in September 2012. The activities wererun by qualified youth workers from Groundwork Solent.

Current situation

For the year 2014/15 our grant from HCC was reduced and was only sufficient to keep the club running for part of the year. With the support of Councillor Graham Burgess and Groundwork Solent we were able to keep the club open until the end of March 2015.

We worked with Flipside Youth Club and Graham Burgess to merge the two clubs and enable them to operate from the building at Lee School that had been used by the Focus Youth Club.

The club now operates under the name of Flipside, is staffed by volunteers and supported by the Lee Community Church. It is open to all young people in Lee.

To join the club

All young people between 10 and 16 years old are very welcome to join.

Just come along to the clubhouse which is located in the Lee Junior School grounds, Salisbury Terrace on a Monday between 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.at which time the club is running and you will be most welcome.
